Church of La Merced
A church whose stone façade was carried from the ruins of the first Panama City.
Near the entrance to Casco Viejo, the Iglesia de la Merced is easy to recognise by its weathered stone front. After the original Panama City (Panamá Viejo) was destroyed in 1671, the façade was taken down and rebuilt here, stone by stone.
It's a quick stop, but a direct link to the city that came before Casco Viejo.
